I'm still here, kind of anyway

hello lovelies.

I say that with sincerity and a bit of sheepishness, as I keep getting emails that go something like "um, hello, did you drop off the parenting planet" or "Did you lose your mind because of that poop problem?" Truth is, I'm learning to focus. And to do that, I need to cut out most the extras in my life for the moment...and since I have this wonderful (although a little mushy, at least for now) gig writing for My North, a site dedicated to celebrating Up North living, my words have been temporairly funneled there. When I get into a better groove, I'm coming back here to tell you about Max and his obsession with
Plastic Jesus,
a recent tooth-fairy no more debacle, and Lizzie's first cat fight (black eye and all).

In the meantime, please come visit me here, here, and here. Maybe even send some comment love my way.

By the way, I am a walking, talking zombie thanks to Lizzie giving up sleep
for lent, like, four months early.

I'll treat to you an awful picture of me to prove it:

Notice the bags? I'm just going to start hoping that it becomes fashionable to have sugar snap pea shaped puffiness under your eyes. I do so hope you are enjoying the advent season...Oh, and guess what? Max just pooped. On the potty. Seriously.

Kate, hang in there! The tooth will pop through, the poop will all remain in the potty and sleep will come to all......... in which order you will have to wait and see. In the mean time call your mother for help. Perhaps not at 2 AM.

Yay Max!
I love your writing wherever I have to go to find it, and I applaud you for all you are doing whether you write here, there, or at all. Your hands are full, but with those cute glasses, I can't really see the bags under your eyes.

Kate, I'm there with ya. I've been writing for real and not blogging as much. I'm feeling pretty embaressed too.

Enjoy the potty thing. And believe it or not, you'll miss those midnight times with your daughter someday. I do.

Kate, I tried leaving a comment on your Up North blog but I keep having trouble. But I want to say, HOLY COW, what an absolutely beautiful little snow-covered town. I actually made hubby get up and come look. I know this is cliche, but it really looks like a postcard. You should turn that photo into Christmas cards! It even looks like there's glitter on the shot.

I love the photo of the two of you sleeping together. How sweet and perfect.

We have a wooden nativity, very simple, and I used to find Baby Jesus EVERYWHERE, as in in the tub, the laundry, and one bad day, doing the backstroke in the (thankfully empty) toilet.

It is good to see you! (and hey, this is just a suggestion but you could write just a little intro to your Up North posts here and draw us all over every time. Like flies to the sticky paper, I tell you, it'd work!)

I hope more than anything that the baggy-eyed sleep deprived look becomes super fashionable. My younger two have started crawling into bed with me EVERY NIGHT. Geez, kids!

Oh Kate. Everything looks bad seen through very, very sleepy eyes. But poop! In the potty! That's big! :) I'm on my way to Up North to visit you there now. If you're embarrassed about not writing here, think how embarrassed I am for not READING here for a while.

I'm finding, more and more, that achieving the balance means not being around the blog. And I'm fine with that.

Merry Christmas!
